About the authors:
CAITLIN ATKINSON is a photographer of places, spaces, and all things botanical. A childhood spent in the Sierra Nevada foothills among trees, mountains, and rivers instilled in her a love of the natural world from an early age. She is the author and photographer of Plant Craft: 30 Projects That Add Natural Style to Your Home (2014) and the photographer for Dry Gardens: High Style for Low Water Gardens (2018), Designing with Palms (2018), and Air Plants: The Curious World of Tillandsias (2014). Caitlin’s work has appeared in Elle Decor, Dwell, Martha Stewart Living, Metropolis Magazine, Good Housekeeping, Better Homes and Gardens, Harper’s Bazaar, Sunset Magazine, and Architectural Digest. When she is not busy photographing gardens, you can find her digging in her own patch of dirt.

JENNIFER JEWELL is a gardener, garden writer, and gardening educator and advocate. She is the host of the national award-winning, weekly public radio program and podcast, Cultivating Place: Conversations on Natural History & the Human Impulse to Garden. She is particularly interested in the intersections between gardens, the native plant environments around them, and human culture. Her work has appeared in Gardens Illustrated and House & Garden, among others. She formerly served as native plant garden curator for the Gateway Science Museum at California State University, Chico. She lives and gardens in the rich biodiversity of interior Northern California, on traditional lands of the Mechoopda Maidu people, hiking in the company of her daughters and her partner, John Whittlesey, whenever possible. Her book The Earth in Her Hands, 75 Extraordinary Women Working in the World of Plants was published in 2020
