Nursery Retail Sales Specialist Job Description

Ground is seeking a part-time Nursery Retail Sales Specialist to join our team. This role focuses on maintaining our indoor plant and merchandise inventory while providing excellent customer service. You’ll assist shoppers, care for plants, and process sales through our Shopify POS system. Weekend availability is required.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Greet and assist customers with product selection, plant care inquiries, and check-out.

  • Operate Shopify POS to process sales, returns, and gift card transactions.

  • Maintain indoor plant inventory: watering, pruning, cleaning foliage, and monitoring plant health.

  • Restock and merchandise plants, pottery, home goods, and gift items.

  • Price, tag, and label products accurately.

  • Receive and organize deliveries; unpack, inspect, and stage new arrivals.

  • Keep retail areas clean, organized, and visually appealing at all times.

  • Communicate plant health or inventory issues to management.

  • Support outdoor nursery staff as needed during busy periods.

Qualifications:

  • Friendly, approachable demeanor with a genuine interest in plants and design.

  • Previous retail, customer service, or nursery experience strongly preferred.

  • Basic knowledge of houseplants and indoor plant care (training provided).

  • Comfort with technology and digital POS systems (Shopify experience a plus).

  • Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently.

  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and be on your feet for extended periods.

  • Weekend availability required; weekday shifts may be available as needed.
