Select from an array of locally-grown flowers to press and take home—perfect for capturing seasonal memories. You’ll explore an inspiring collection of pressed flower examples, then try your hand at arranging and mounting pre-pressed florals onto custom cards, ready to frame or gift.
Whether you’re a nature lover, a craft enthusiast, or just looking for a relaxing creative experience, this workshop offers a fresh way to connect with the natural world—one petal at a time.
Jill Sowards is a gardener and owner of Violetear Studio. She teaches classes on a range of gardening topics throughout the bay area and online, along with garden design and consultations. No matter the subject, her foundation is always on ecological gardening, waterwise practices, and sharing her love of native plants. Originally trained as a public interest lawyer, Jill believes that all people can benefit from building a nurturing connection with the joy of the garden. Her own garden is in the Berkeley hills, which she cultivates with the help (or hindrance) of her family and a rescue hound.

Julie Greene is the creator of Frontier Tarot, a modern interpretation of the tarot rooted in intuition, creativity, and the natural world. She teaches classes and offers readings throughout Northern California and online, guiding students and clients to connect more deeply with their own inner wisdom. Julie’s approach blends traditional tarot symbolism with mindfulness and personal reflection, making ancient practices accessible for everyday life. Originally trained as an artist and designer, she brings a keen eye for imagery and storytelling to her work. She lives in Marin County, where she continues to explore the meeting place of art, spirit, and the wild landscape.

Join Jill to learn about growing these incredible flowers. Jill will cover how to select different varieties of dahlia, planting and growing in the ground or in containers, and how to feed and care for your blooms.
Jill will cover sustainable pest and disease control, seed saving, companion planting, multiplying your plants through tuber division and cuttings, and advice on breeding. Last but not least, you will learn the best way to cut your dahlias for the longest lasting display in your home. Take home a multipage guide with all of the class material and buyer’s guide.

Regular price $95.00 Save Liquid error (snippets/product-template line 131): Computation results in '-Infinity'%Join us at Ground on Friday, September 4 for a Botanical Cyanotype Workshop—an immersive introduction to the art of sun printing. Dating back to 1872, cyanotype is one of the earliest photographic processes, known for its rich blue tones and striking botanical impressions.
In this hands-on class, you’ll learn the fundamentals of cyanotype using natural materials. We’ll explore a range of techniques and examples on paper, fabric, and other surfaces before you create your own prints using a curated selection of flowers and botanical elements. You’ll leave with your finished pieces, along with guidance on how to mount and display them.
All materials, botanicals, and tools are provided, as well as a workshop guide for reference and note-taking.
This workshop is an invitation to slow down, observe plants more closely, and engage with nature through both art and process—capturing the fleeting beauty of the season in a lasting form.
