Dahlias are one of the most generous and rewarding flowers in the garden. Join Jill to learn about growing these incredible flowers.  Jill will cover how to select different varieties of dahlia, planting and growing in the ground or in containers, and how to feed and care for your blooms.

Jill will cover sustainable pest and disease control, seed saving, companion planting, multiplying your plants through tuber division and cuttings, and advice on breeding.  Last but not least, you will learn the best way to cut your dahlias for the longest lasting display in your home.  Take home a multipage guide with all of the class material and buyer’s guide.

About Jill Sowards

Jill Sowards is a gardener and owner of Violetear Studio.  She teaches classes on a range of gardening topics throughout the bay area and online, along with garden design and consultations.  No matter the subject, her foundation is always on ecological gardening, waterwise practices, and sharing her love of native plants.  Originally trained as a public interest lawyer, Jill believes that all people can benefit from building a nurturing connection with the joy of the garden.  Her own garden is in the Berkeley hills, which she cultivates with the help (or hindrance) of her family and a rescue hound.
